The holiday season provides a unique opportunity to abuse alcohol in a way that is socially acceptable. 'Legitimate Christmas drinking' is where standard rules no longer apply and it can be hard in early recovery to even consider not drinking alcohol in December. This season not only provides lots of triggers to drink it can also trigger to feel loneliness and feelings of isolation. Plus there is having to spend time with family members who compromise our mental health. The marketing we are bombarded with can make us feel like our lives just don't measure up. We discuss how you can get through the season by changing your thinking and mindset.
